Here is an easy bruschetta on bread recipe to use up some fresh basil to make this delicious 5 ingredient roasted red pepper bruschetta!
Even if you don’t have your own fresh basil leaves that you’ve grown at home, pick some up at the store because this recipe is so easy and it tastes amazing! This is an easy appetizer with a simple bruschetta topping to add on top of french bread. This simple bruschetta recipe has the best flavor with fresh flavors you are sure to love!
Ingredients needed to make your own Roasted Red Pepper, Mozzarella, and Basil Bruschetta on Bread:
- Ciabatta Bread, which is the name for a loaf of Italian bread – (or use a french baguette or french loaf) and cut into thick slices
- Wish-Bone Balsamic Italian dressing – any balsamic dressing will work – but you could also make your own dressing with 75:25 of balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil
- Roasted Red Peppers (I got mine from the Olive bar at Wegmans) or you can purchase canned ones as well
- Fresh Basil
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (if you have access to fresh mozzarella cheese, you can use that instead.)
- fresh tomatoes *optional
- parmesan cheese *optional
- red onion *optional
Be sure to use fresh ingredients whenever you can for this recipe (except for the roasted red peppers which are canned.)
Instructions on how to make Roasted Red Pepper and Basil Homemade Bruschetta on Bread:
- Slice the Ciabatta bread (or French bread or baguette slices) and place on a baking sheet. (approx 8 sliced) I recommend lining your baking pan with aluminum foil for easy clean-up.
- Drizzle the Wishbone Balsamic Italian dressing on the bread (or any balsamic dressing you choose.) Spread the dressing with a pastry brush.
- Slice the roasted red pepper and add to the bread. (add optional sliced tomato.)
- Chop fresh basil and sprinkle
- Top with a good amount of shredded mozzarella cheese. (add optional parmesan cheese sprinkle.)
- Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bread edges are golden brown. This is best baked on the top rack of your oven.
This easy Italian appetizer bruschetta recipe on bread is one of my favorites! I love any recipe with a small amount of ingredients – which this one has. That keeps this summer appetizer easy to make with good bread! It is also a great way to use fresh tomatoes if they are in season! If they are not in season, then creating a classic bruschetta recipe with canned roasted red peppers instead is a great backup to enjoy this classic Italian appetizer any time of the year!
A small amount of ingredients does not mean it lacks flavor! It tastes so fresh and delicious, and you don’t need to go to a restaurant and order this as a fancy appetizer when you can make it yourself at home.
