Are you a first time mom overwhelmed by all of the costs that come with having a baby? You probably want to know ways you can save on some of those baby must-have items.
Check out the next 6 tips to save money so that you can alleviate some of the stress of the arrival of your new miracle!
Here are some of the top baby products and ways you can save some money when it comes to purchasing them for your little bundle of joy!
1. Buy Used
Maybe buying used would be the first tip you’d think of when saving money on baby gear. And guess what? Getting used baby gear isn’t “cheap and lame” – its smart!
You’re able to get the same items that you’ve been searching for, but at a fraction of the price you’d normally pay for them. Babies do not use infant gear for long.
You may even be surprised by how “unused” used baby gear really is! One note of caution: If you’re purchasing travel systems used, make sure to ask about their history prior to buying them and be sure there are no current recalls!
2. Sign Up For Offers
Many companies are more than happy to provide you with coupons, free samples, and offers.
You can save some cash in the end, while also being able to share these offers with the rest of your friends. This can be done through just about any baby company that you come across.
It can also be done online, saving you time. Here are a few offers you can get now:
Free Subscription to Parents Magazine
Free Infantino Prop-a-Pillar Tummy Time & Seated Support
Free Sample of Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix
3. Purchase a Lot of Bulk Diapers
With so many bulk diapers, you’re going to be happy knowing that you don’t have to constantly run out and purchase diapers.
By buying them in bulk, you’re essentially allowing yourself to have everything you need for baby that is essential, but also saving money when you buy them in bulk in the long run.
Ask everyone you know for diapers when you have a baby shower or need something – they’re a must!
And of course if there is a coupon available diapers – be sure to use it! Here are current baby product coupons you can print now: Just click on the image to print:
4. Think Yard Sales or Craigslist.
While second hand is always a good thing, you may want to shop at yard sales or Craigslist rather than just thrift stores.
That way you will have contact with the original owner so that you can learn about how a product works, learn about the history of usage, or even talk them down a bit in price.
5. Look for Double-Duty Items
A lot of items can provide you with multiple purposes when it comes to purchasing them.
When you’re looking for ways to save money, looking for these ‘double-duty’ items can help you save some cash and still have the items you’re in need of. Everything from a changing table and dresser to a high chair and booster.
You can find these items with more than one use everywhere you turn. My favorite double duty item I got was a booster seat (I skipped getting a high chair all together.)
6. Speak with Your Pediatrician for Cost-Savings
If you’re looking to save some extra cash, then your pediatrician can let you know how to save some extra cash when it comes to feeding your baby or making sure that they give you other money saving offers on products meant for baby.
Some offices have additional products that they give you for free, depending on whether you’re breast or bottle feeding.
My sister-in-law is a nurse at a pediatrician office and was able to get many sample size containers of baby formula to give to me.
If you do use formula, be sure to ask your doctor for samples! That can be a HUGE savings!
Make sure to share this information with the other moms you know, as well. You never know who is in need of some money mommy saving advice! Save some cash and have everything you and baby need when baby arrives!
