many years ago i visited cape cod quite often – a lot of portugese people have settled there and a lot of restaurants serve portugese specialties. a favorite of ours is portugese kale soup. you make it the exact same way as minestrone, but use linguica or chorizo sausage instead of italian sausage, and use chopped kale instead of spinach. it is utterly fantastic, and we always without fail had a cup of it before our deelish seafood dinners with an ocean view. sigh!
