In case you got a new TV during the recent Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals – here is a DIY Entertainment center idea that will also save you more big $$!!
A couple of years ago my hubby and I upgraded to a flat screen. We had the old entertainment center in the “before” picture given to us for free. At that time we had recently purchased our house, and were already spending a lot of money upgrading, fixing, painting, etc.
We did not want to spend more money on a new TV stand for our new flat screen when we had this other free entertainment center that was also still in good shape.
We knew it wouldn’t be functional for the new TV, but since I have a handy and creative engineer husband – he just upcycled it to make it work!
If you have a handy husband like myself, then you don’t need a new entertainment center! He just got out his saw and cut the old one in half!
Here’s the work in progress. 🙂
The very top board on the original we kept. We placed that on the bottom half of the center after the top half was sawed off. I bought some new door knobs for the storage cupboards and now it looks brand new!
I see old entertainment centers like this on curbsides with “free” signs quite frequently. Grab one, and do something similar here for a brand new DIY entertainment center/ flat screen tv stand!
