I recently found out that my brother and sister-in-law are about to be parents for the first time! I’ve been brainstorming helping them out a bit with their baby registry, and remembering toddler and baby gear products you will really use – and not just what you can find on generic baby registry lists. Here are products that I truly loved when my kiddos were babies and toddlers.

Onesies – Pack your diaper bag with the essentials (and some extras!) for the day including ONESIES® Brand line of mix and match separates. When you have little ones, you’ll go through a few outfits a day because of spit up, diaper blowouts, or meal time disasters!
The Table Tyke
A portable, sanitary, and non-slip silicone placemat helping young children avoid spills, injury, and contact with unsanitary surfaces during mealtime and playtime. Perfect for germ conscience moms, especially during this pandemic!
The brainchild of Fresno-based mom Berlyn Haughton, the idea came as a necessity to stop her teething baby boys from suckling on table edges – which often resulted in painful bumps. During COVID, she realized it could also prevent children from unsanitary surfaces when eating in public.
It can also make for an easy meal cleanup if your toddler can keep the meal mess on this mat. After a quick soapy water rinse, it will be ready for the next meal. It also has easy elastic loops to hold it while it’s wrapped up. That makes it small enough to throw into a diaper bag and be easily used at a restaurant or other public area for meal time.

These are great for giving kids who need help gripping a little more independence. This is also great for pediatric special needs that require an adaptive utensil.

My Experience: Since my days of having toddlers is over, I gave this to my sister-in-law to use with my 2-year-old niece. She is the baby of the family and loves getting attention from her big brothers. She still likes to be fed by one of them or by mom. When she got her EazyHold though, she feels even more like a princess because she has something colorful added to her spoon that no one else has. She doesn’t mind being fed still, but she’s using this more and more. If nothing else, she learns to be confident in feeding herself, we’ll call it a win!
Boudreaux’s Butt Paste Diaper Rash Ointment –This is my favorite brand of diaper rash ointment – this stuff is so thick and will not easily wipe off in the wet diaper environment! And it works wonders too!
Gerber Graduates Fun Grips Hard Spout Sippy Cup – not every new mom will think to put sippy cups on their registry. But over the years, you will actually use sippy cups for a longer period of time than you will bottles (especially if you are nursing!)
Dropper Stopper – No more dropped toys or bottles! This used to be one of the things that frustrated me the most was dropped bottles and pacifiers that I had to clean after landing on dirty floors. I remember being very frustrated while I was grocery shopping once, and my daughter dropped her bottle on the store floor and I didn’t want to take my cart to the bathroom to wash off since I was almost done shopping, and it turned into a big cry fest in the middle of the store! Chewbeads Necklaces – I just loved having a cute necklace that was not only fashionable, but also ready to be purposely chewed on by my teething daughters! There were many days I just wanted to wear my “normal” clothes (as in shirts with no spit up, and my favorite necklaces), but motherhood at that time didn’t allow for that. Snap & Shop is easy to use, portable, provides a clean surface to feed your child their favorite snacks and is parent and kid approved! It’s easy to pack up before heading to the store, small enough to fit in your bag and allows for convenient snack refills while shopping. Cleaning is a “snap” with wipes while at the store and in the dishwasher when you get home. My toddlers loved it when I got a bag of freeze dried yogurt melts while we shopped. This is the perfect holder for snacks like that!

Infants need to be swaddled because they like to be snug, and we want them warm. But as they get older and can wiggle worm their way out of the baby cocoon, and this sleep sack solve that! Summer Infant Ultimate Crib Sheet, 52″ x 28″ – don’t bother getting traditional crib sheets because those are a huge pain in the bum to change! But this crib sheet snaps on around the crib rails, making it easy-peasy to remove, wash, and replace!
Child of Mine by Carter’s Baby Lamb Cuddle Blanket with Rattle – both of my girls have one like this that they are glued to! I’m pretty sure my oldest will bring hers to college with her. 😉
Bright Starts Playful Pinwheels Bouncer – I recommend getting an extra bouncy seat just for the bathroom. I remember trying to take a shower during newborn stage (or even just go to the bathroom!) and I wasn’t sure how to exactly do that. I moved my bouncy right next to the tub so I could see her while I showered. I was sick of always moving a bouncy into the bathroom for each shower, so I just got an extra one for the bathroom.

SwaddleMe Original Swaddle 3-PK, XO (SM) -when we brought our little newborn nugget home, I remember my husband and I trying to practice swaddling with a normal swaddle blanket. That was a super pain to master – especially in the middle of the night when you are already sleep deprived. In my opinion, every new mom just needs a bunch of these swaddle blankets!
