Here is a fun way to decorate using empty deodorant containers!
The fact is that when you start using coupons, you can come home with many items for free. It’s great to bring home free things, but sometimes you may not end up liking it, already have too many of them, or think you’ll use it but just don’t. Reality is that they could just sit in your stockpile for a long time, and never get used. If that happens to me, I try and just give those items away.
Lately though, I’ve been thinking outside of the box to come up with fun crafts using the products that us couponers get quite frequently for free/dirt cheap.
One of those items is:
TRAVEL SIZE DEODORANT!!!
I can’t tell you how many of these have been in and out of my house. All I know is that there have been A LOT! Some I keep. Most I give away. But I decdied to experiment and come up with a use for these, other than de-odorizing armpits. 🙂
I recently got a bunch of the Dove’s Men + Care travel deodorants and I liked the container of this brand because it didn’t have the turn dial on the bottom, making it look like a deodorant container. I scooped out the deodorant, and threw it out, so I could see what the container looked like when it wasn’t full. This is the only kind of sample deodorant I experimented with, so I don’t know if every brands empty container looks like this. I like it though because those holes look like they are just waiting to be filled with flowers!
Before the flowers arrived, I embellished the outside of the deodorant container with ribbon.
Then I added some fake flowers to it. I would avoid real flowers. I’m assuming the deodorant residue left in the container would kill the real flowers.
This is the window sill in my kitchen. I had the glass vases there before I did this project. I like the added touch of the shorter vases in between.
Now you tell me – would you look at my window sill at first glance and know those came from travel sized deodorant containers???? I really don’t think so and I think they turned out pretty cute!
Who else has a fun craft project involving an item you’ve gotten for free using coupons? I’d love to add some of your ideas here! Send them my way for possible posting!
