Servings: 12 scones

Scone Dough Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 cup brown sugar

2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter, cubed

2/3 cup pumpkin puree

1 egg

3 Tbsp milk

2 tsp vanilla

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2.  In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, baking soda, and salt.
  3.  Add cubed butter to the flour mixture and cut the butter in with a pastry knife.
  4.  In a medium bowl, mix together pumpkin puree, egg, milk, and vanilla.
  5. Add mixed wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir to combine. A dough will start to form, knead the dough in the bowl until all flour is incorporated.
  6.  Turn the dough out on the baking sheet, and press out the soft dough into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  7.  Score dough with a sharp knife making 12 triangles. You could also use a pastry cutter or a pizza cutter. You could also make cuts in the opposite direction, making smaller triangles. That will make mini pumpkin scones that are perfect for when there is more than one dessert to choose from.
  8.  Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack for 10 min before glazing.
  9. Whisk together until smooth. Spoon desired amount on the tops of the scones.
  10. For the spiced glaze, get a separate bowl and whisk together pumpkin puree, cinnamon, powdered sugar, and milk.
  11. Drizzle on the top of each scone with spiced pumpkin glaze.
  12.  Keep leftovers in an airtight container on the counter for 3-5 days
