A new movie is in stores TODAY, September 16th: Hero
This isn’t a typical “watch the underdog win” baseball movie. This movie is actually more about Fatherhood and a reminder that our culture could use some significant improvement when it comes to dads being dads – and just biological fathers. Dad’s need to be around in their kids lives to help them succeed. This movie has good values that highlight the importance of fathers in the family unit, and for those with broken families it also encourages reconciliation.
I really liked it when the baseball coach made it a requirement for the player’s dads to show up at every practice – and all of the lame excuses dads use to get out something they view as a waste of time. The coach does reach the players and their families in the end. Now not every aspect of this movie is realistic. It makes it seem like we can retrain men into #1 dads overnight. Despite its idealistic ideas, this movie contributes to the re-instilling of core family values that we in America need to be daily reminded of!!
