Units Scale

Simple Ingredients for this Christmas butter cookies recipe:

  • 1 boxed white cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Christmas sprinkles (using holiday colors)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
  2. Be sure the cream cheese and butter is room temperature. If they are cold, put them in the microwave for 30 seconds before you try to cream them together. Add them both to a large bowl.
  3.   Using the paddle attachment on your stand mixer, (or use an electric hand mixer,) cream room temperature butter and cream cheese until smooth consistency.
  4. Add in white cake mix, and beat until well incorporated.
  5. Fold in festive sprinkles.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 1 hr or overnight.
  7. Roll cookies into 1-inch balls and roll to coat in confectioner’s sugar. You can use a small cookie scoop to help create the same size dough balls.
  8. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  9. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake cookies for 15 min, or until they are golden brown, in the preheated oven. As long as you use parchment paper, you can use an ungreased baking sheet.  You can add other things to these cookies like crushed candy canes, white chocolate chips, or dried fruit (raisins, cherries, etc.) This is a wonderful recipe to customize.

Notes

*If you use sugar sprinkles it will just turn the batter that color. For best results, be sure to use a bigger size sprinkle.
