Chocolate Mug Cake Mix in a Jar Recipe

If you are looking for an easy DIY mason jar gift idea, or you want to have an easy way to feed a chocolate craving, then you should try making this ridiculously easy mug cake mix!  You need three ingredients to make the mug cake mix, and then you literally just add two tablespoons of water, microwave for 1 minute, and you have an easy chocolately mug cake recipe that will satisfy any chocoholics cravings.

If you’ve never tried making mug cake recipes before, they are super easy because you only need to add a few ingredients to a mug, and pop it into the microwave for a quick and easy personal sized cake serving that you can make at any time.  Check out this 90 Second Easy Microwave Brownie in a Mug recipe that I made here which is similar.  But this chocolate mug cake, you can make the mix up ahead of time and it makes it super easy to make whenever you want some easy chocolate dessert – and you can always have some on hand!

 

Chocolate Mug Cake ingredients

Ingredients needed for your chocolate mug cake:

  • 1 box of angel food cake mix
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 16 oz mason jars for storage

Makes 3 1/2 jars

  1.  Get a large mixing bowl and pour in your angel food cake mix, chocolate cake mix, and your chocolate chips.  Stir together until well blended.

2.  Then get your 16oz mason jars and fill them with this chocolate mug cake mixture.

3.  To make your mug cake, add three tablespoons of mug cake mix into a mug.  Then add 2 tablespoons of water and stir well.

4.  Put it into the microwave for one minute and your cake is done!

5.  Top with whip cream and sprinkles as an added topping.  Any topping of your choice will do – even some nutella if you want this extra chocolately!  Or just a scoop of your favorite ice cream!

My kids went nuts when I brought them their first mug cake!  This also is very convenient because I can make individual servings and not worry about my oven heating up the house on a hot summer day!
