Young Living’s Purification Oil Review/Giveaway

For the past few months (if you’ve been reading here that long) you’ll remember a few of my reviews and giveaways being about Young Living Essential Oils.  I was introduced to these products by my hairdresser a few months ago and have been intrigued to learn more about them. I listened to the “Missing Link” informational CD that explains why these natural products have healing properties and have purchased a few oils to try for myself.  One kit that I have purchased was the The Everyday Oils Kit which contains the following oils and oil mixtures in 5 ml bottles–  Lavender,  Lemon,  Peppermint,  Frankincense,  Pan Away,  Peace and Calming,  Purification,  Thieves,  Valor.

For the next 4 months, I’m going to focus on one of the oils listed above, write a post on its benefits, and give my personal feedback after I’ve tried it.  Then one of my lucky readers will also have the chance the win the oil and try it for themselves.  I’ll also include a copy of “The Missing Link” so they too can have some more information of how and why these work.

October is Purification Month

Here are some benefits that the Young Living Website says about Purification Oil:

An antiseptic blend formulated for diffusing to purify and cleanse the air and neutralize mildew, cigarette smoke, and disagreeable odors. When applied directly to the skin, Purification may be used to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes.

How to Use
Diffuse, apply topically, or put on cotton balls to place in air vents of home, car, hotel room, and office. Diffuse and rub on feet during cleansing.

Ingredients
Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), rosemary (Rosemarinus officinalis), melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia), lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and myrtle (Myrtus communis).

**I also have a reference Guide for Essential Oils compiled by Connie and Alan Higley that gives some more details about the oils and here is what is says Purification can be used for:

“The individual oils in this blend have some powerful antispetic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and sanitizing properties.  This blend is therefore useful for killing odors and their bacteria, molds and fungus.  It kills anaerobic bacteria.  It purifies and cleanses bacteria in the air, neutralizes mildew, cigarette smoke, and other noxious odors.  It repels bugs, insects, and mice that like to live in homes, offices, and other confined areas.  It has also been beneficial in neutralizing poison from insect bites; such as spiders, bees, hornets, and wasps.  It is good for first-aid in sterilizing wounds and cuts.”

My experience with the oil: My 14 month old daughter had a great habit of tipping her bottle upside down for fun – especially when I gave it to her to drink in the car.  This means that there have been many spills of formula/milk in the back seat.  I’ve scrubbed the seats and floors a couple of times, but the car still has an unfriendly odor that is still probably looming from the days of spilled milk.  When I read about how well Purification neutralizes odors, I wanted to use it in the car.  It is suggested to put it on a cotton ball and place in an air vent to freshen the car.  So now I keep my bottle of it in the car and use it to help neutralize odors and not just cover them up with a synthetic smell like other air fresheners do.  Another great place to use this to combat odors – the diaper pail!  I also got a vaporizer for $.41 cents tonight, so I’m adding some of the oil to the water.  My daughter started having a runny nose this morning, just after getting over another cold – yuck!  Maybe this humidity/oil combo will speed up healing and/or kill germs in her room.

  1. I love my essential oils. Lavender is one of my favorites. Useful for so many things; burns, calming and relaxing etc.

I follow you on facebook and twitter!

  2. I would buy Eucalyptus Blue oil. Would use it for freshening up air at home. We have mold growing on the vents, trying to fight it every way possible. Also liked Cleansing Trio Kit, to continue on a cleansing note 🙂

  3. The lavender volume shampoo and conditioner would be my choice, I’m always trying to get more volume in my hair.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  4. Peppermint – 15 ml is what I would be interested in trying. I am intrigued by its affect on the body’s respiratory system. As a person who gets lots of colds and has difficultly smelling, I would like to see if this helps me.

  5. I Would love to try the essential oil Harmony. It helps to reduce stress and promote overall well being. I will be moving soon and it would be interesting to see if using this oil would help keep stress down.

  6. I’d like to try the lemongrass EO. I normally love lemongrass – it is so uplifting. Now that I’ve read that it aids digestion, it should be a great one to have around during all the holiday overeating!
