I was looking for a gift card exchange website the other day (I have a gift card that I received from Christmas that I’m looking into exchanging) and I came across Cardhub.com. They not only exchange gift cards, but they also have credit card offers and prepaid cards to purchase.
Since I found them because I wanted to exchange a gift card, I’m just going to tell you how this process works.
It turns out that they have the largest selection of discount gift cards on the market. They show offers from a number of gift card depots (like Plastic Jungle or Ebay) as well as ones selling on Facebook. So basically they have all of the best gift card deals all in one place!
First off, you can sell them a gift card you no longer want to use. For example, I typed in Olive Garden for a value of $25. I got a message back instantaneously that Cardhub.com will buy it for $20. So now I have $20 in cash that I can either pocket, or use toward a gift card I’d more likely use.
So let’s say I’m going to use my $20 to buy a different gift card. I’d go here to their gift card exchange page, and sort by price. I found a $25 P.F. Chang’s China Bistro gift card for $20. So I can use my $20 from selling a card, and buy it from this Facebook user and get the original amount back for a restaurant I’d rather have a gift card for. If you are buying from a Facebook user, you can message them with the pre-written comment that Cardhub has already set up.

Why in the world would you sit there and let your giftcard go to waste just because you don’t shop at THAT store? Some gift cards are like fruitcakes. You get one for a gift, and you shove it in a corner and forget about it until it goes bad. Do fruitcakes ever go bad? Maybe not. But a gift card is just as useless as a gift card you’ll never use. And other gift cards exist only to be regifted. Over and over and over. It’s such a shame that well-meaning relatives spend money on gift card that may never get redeemed – and somewhere there is someone who would love that same card. A website that lets you trade in gift cards is pure genius. Now I just need to find that stockpile of cards that I’ve been collecting!

I love how each of these stories get longer and longer and longer. I guess that the feeling is sort of similar to the feeling you get from getting what you want through Cardhub! I know I get all excited thinking about the fact that I won’t have good money going to waste just because someone gave me a lame gift card or that store closed down near me. I can save and save and get what I really want!
Cardhub, where have you been all my life? I could unload all of those giftcards that my mom keeps regifting to me that I will never use. it is amazing what you can do now when you get a gift card for a place that you never shop…. being able to get a card for where you do shop is amazing.
When I got married many, many, ridiculously many years ago, I received several gift cards for stores that didn’t have brick and mortar shops in my area. It’s sad to say that they all went to waste, because there wasn’t a great alternative like Cardhub available.
Now that I have a family, my sons get gift cards from relatives all over the country, and there have been a couple occasions when they’ve received cards from places that are far away. I have a small pile of low value gift cards that I keep accumulating in the hopes that I will eventually get enough to buy something meaningful for me or the kids.
